How it all started
Ever since I was a little kid and somebody would ask me, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I would say hanaya-san! In Japanese, hana means flower, ya means store and san is person- florist! The word/kanji (character) hana is one of my favorite japanese words and since I was obsessed with flowers since a very young age- I named a lot of my pets “Hana”- my hamster, dog, and even my baby cabbage patch doll. My family, in particular my mother and grandparents were big influencers of my appreciation towards, nature, flowers and plants. While living in Japan during high school, I took Ikebana classes to learn the beautiful art of Japanese floral arrangement. The simplicity and meaning within Ikebana continues to fascinate me. Fast forward a couple decades and having taken the professional floristry program at the local community college, I continue to say I want to be florist when I grow up. Flowers are my true passion and I truly enjoy bringing the gift of love and light via flowers. For me, playing with flowers, while helping others, is truly what sparks joy in my life!
Philosophy
Getting to know people, start with conversatoins, no forms. Consulting, I like to know more about them, the feel, to customize it. Wheterher wedding or individual person.
